The Heart Behind Rover Stay Over

Ken and Charmae Scheffer have called Whatcom County home for most of their lives and have always shared a love for dogs, family, and community. When they founded Rover Stay Over, their vision was simple: create the kind of place they would trust with their own dogs. Together with their family, they built Rover Stay Over into a place where dogs could feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for while their families were away.

After struggling to find boarding options they felt truly confident leaving their own dogs with, they set out to create something different—a place that focused not only on safety and cleanliness, but also on building lasting relationships with both dogs and their people.

What began as a small family dream in 2011 has grown into a trusted home away from home for dogs and their families throughout Whatcom County.
